2009 was acclaimed as the beginning of the era ending racism based on unfounded accolades ( and equally unfounded criticism) for the first Black President of the United States. In reality, little has changed for Black Americans, and more so than the economy things are getting much worse. Homicides involving black males are on a continuous surge and for the families, friends, and neighbors they leave behind, the murder rate and gun control is concern number one in the Black Community.
The killings have become all too numerous, and overwhelmingly confined within isolated Black neighborhoods. Unless celebrity is involved, a murdered American black male can expect to receive as much empathy as starving African in Dar fur, and far less empathy than the men from war torn Iraq, Afghanistan and Pakistan. In fact, Black male homicides are considered so common and the reaction to their deaths so non sympathetic, murdered Black males have become one of the more popular reality TV shows broadcast on cable.
